I spent many months trying to decide on what kind of design I should go for for my portfolio and scrapped many design ideas in the process. I finally settled on this one. I really like the neat and organized corporate look. Since this is a design portfolio, I tried to incorporate some fun elements into it to spice things up as well. Blue is my favorite color and at the same time, it represents Hawaii with the blue skies and the blue ocean which is represented by the subtle wave patterns. My favorite part of this design is the hover animation for the “contact me” graphic on the footer.

Evermore (Spring Burst Theme)

Client Website: Evermore

  • XHTML/CSS
  • CMS (WordPress)

Spring Burst is my first theme coded for my WordPress blog. Made in the new year, I wanted a bright and green theme to reflect the spring season. I created the swirly graphics in Illustrator. Overall, I like this theme and still haven’t changed it. It includes convenient page links at the top, side bar links, as well as shows my most recent blog and Twitter posts in the footer. Not to mention, the footer also includes links to my YouTube account and WordPress. If you’re interested, please view my in-depth design process for this layout.

Client Website: CF Wan Creations

  • Branding
  • Design
  • XHTML/CSS

CF Wan Creations is my sister, Rita’s, homemade beaded jewelry business. I created the logo and incorporated her name chop into it. The blue sky theme reflects Hawaii and the spirit of aloha whereas the sunflower is a symbol of the sun and also reflects Hawaii’s sunny weather as well as a symbol of Rita’s Chinese name. The layout is very simple with content placed in the middle of the page and navigation on the right. Looking for some cute accessories? Visit her site to see what she has to offer!

This is the layout for my personal web comic. I drew the illustration for the header by hand and then scanned and imported into Photoshop for coloring. To see this illustration in a larger size, please visit my illustrations page. The design is very simple with the latest update in the header, navigation at the top, and the rest of the content below, all lined up in the middle of the page. The finishing touch is the blinking animation for the word “Latest” that tells users what the latest comic pages are. This feature is also my personal favorite in this design.

The Bistro at Century Center

The Bistro at Century Center was an award-winning French fine-dining restaurant here in Honolulu, Hawaii and I was asked to re-design their website. They’re famous for their romantic ambience, high quality collection of wine, high-class chef, as well as attentive and friendly waiters and staff. Special attention was paid to the restaurant’s ambience and quality of food and service in order to deliver the same feel to online users in this web design. Unfortunately, they’re no longer in business.
