Life’s Wonders

Date: May 2008 – November 2008

Publisher: Ka Leo O Hawaii

  • Comic Strip

I worked as a cartoonist at my college’s newspaper division, Ka Leo O Hawaii in my second year of college. I produced the comic strips called “Life’s Wonders” four days a week. While the strips are not continuous, it stars the same characters in each one (mostly). The main character is an Asian guy who still has not been named. It’s about the totally random things he encounters in college and in life with his loony buddy. Most of these experiences happened to me or someone I know and I thought it’d be cool to share with everyone. With my increasing workload in animation class, I ended this strip at the end of the Fall 2008 semester.

Tale of Yesterday

Tale of Yesterday

Date: November 2007 – October 2008

Publisher: Online

  • Long-running Story
  • Manga

This story was my very first attempt at drawing manga. I admit it was a wrong move to start a long series so soon. Unfortunately, due to school and work, I decided to abandon this project in late 2008. It was a really good experience though in which I spent so much time thinking about the storyline, the characters, their personalities, as well as designing everything from the character designs to their school uniforms and community. Without the experience working on this, my other one-shot, 63 would not have ended so smoothly. Please visit my site for Tale of Yesterday to see all the chapters I have available.

  • One-shot Short Story
  • Manga

This was a one-shot short story manga I drew back in 2008 as a submission into BoomBox Media’s ShockPop World Manga Anthology. It was selected in late 2008 and is currently waiting to be published. The story is a mystery horror. Now that I look back on it, there are so many things that I do not like such as the art. But it was really fun working on this because I always wanted to write a mystery story. I want to start writing a new one soon! You can see a two-page sample by clicking on the left image.
