  • 2D Animated Short

For my third year as an animation student, I produced this second 2D animated short. I spent time improving on animating movement, timing, and composition. While there are still some scenes that I want to re-do, I’d say this turned out even better than Strive. Since I was working with animals this time, producing sound effects was easier as I did not have to hire a person for his voice. The one thing I disliked about this is the story which is pretty cliched to me. I am currently entering this in the Hawaii International Film Festival Fall 2009. Unfortunately, I am not able to post the full short online at this time due to copyright issues so a sneak peek will do for now. Sorry for the inconvenience!

  • 2D Animation

This is my latest animation demo reel demonstrating the 12 principles of animation and it includes my best work starting from the first semester of my animation classes at UH. When looking at this now, it’s hard to believe I’ve done so much and have come so far since my first semester of college. At that time, I knew pretty much nothing about animation besides watching it on TV or at the movie theater. But now, I am able to get an understanding of why certain animation looks so lively compared to other animation as well as the ability to compare western animation with Japanese animation to see what they did differently.

  • 2D Animated Short

This was my first animated short in 2D made in my second year of college. Time was short and since it was my first time, I had worries about pretty much everything. But in the end, I’d say it ended up pretty well despite some timing issues that I’m hoping to fix when I have time. It is completely hand-drawn and took about a month to complete. This short was among those selected from our class to be screened to the public at ACM’s Blue Moon Soiree. Unfortunately, I am not able to post the full short online at this time due to copyright issues so a sneak peek will do for now. Sorry for the inconvenience!

  • 3D Animated Short

This was my first ever animation and I still consider this to be my best short so far. It’s just pure and simple fun. This was made when I only had a basic knowledge of Maya so it just uses basic shapes, shading, and raytracing. No complicated stuff. Production on this project was also very tight with only several weeks at the end of the semester. At the time, I had not purchased my MacBook Pro yet so I had to leave it up to my semi-slow desktop PC to handle the rendering. Not to mention, the short was rendered in 1080p HD so it took pretty long.
